Máni is a traditional Icelandic fishing boat built from oak and as such extremely strong and heavy, providing slow movements on the water. In Iceland there is always a little romance about those old fishing boats. They are beautiful and if it wasn´t for the whale watching companies renovating and operating them, they would be left to rot in docks around Iceland. The oak boats depend on being used, getting wet as it keeps the oak planks tight together, as wet timber expands but dry shrinks.
